Suruchi restaurant in St Julian’s was named one of the best restaurants in The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants awards held recently.

Owner and manager Alan Kawsar provides certified Halal Indian and Arabian cuisine using the finest, authentic ingredients sourced from abroad. Each dish is prepared by experienced chefs drawing on their native knowledge.

The restaurant, which opened a year ago, offers classic Indian and Arabian dishes and lesser-known ones such as baba ghanoush (eggplant dip with garlic and tahini garnished with olive oil), Indian dal tadka (Indian lentils cooked with exotic spices), accompanied by fluffy geera rice (basmati rice flavoured with cumin), kuskse bel hoot (fish stew cooked with Arabian spices and served on a bed of couscous) and Arabian meat grills.

Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes are also available, and the hotness of spices can be adjusted according to individual tastes.

As for beverages, patrons can choose from a selection of local and world wines, Indian beers and liqueurs.

The restaurant has an elegant and romantic setting with curtained dining areas offering semi-privacy from the main restaurant, which can seat up to 40 people.
